Lancia Ypsilon: Two new HF models for road and rally
Even before the launch of its new Ypsilon model, Lancia has given a glimpse into the future of the series with two new high-performance vehicles. Firstly, the top-of-the-range Ypsilon HF model with a 177 kW (240 hp) electric motor, which accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, is planned for May next year. It will be launched with a lowered body, widened track and muscular design language inspired by the sports cars from the brand's history. Future high-performance vehicles from the brand will once again bear the traditional abbreviation HF. HF versions are also planned for the Gamma and Delta models.
Secondly, Lancia is returning to rallying with the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF. The vehicle is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine with three cylinders and an output of around 212 hp (156 kW). The power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed gearbox and mechanical limited slip differential.
With a total of 15 titles in the World Rally Championship, Lancia is one of the most successful brands in motorsport. The brand has also celebrated three manufacturers' titles in the World Endurance Championship on the circuit as well as victories in the famous Mille Miglia and Targa Florio road races in Italy and the Carrera Panamericana in Mexico.
