Alfa Romeo has once again won the coveted "Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes" at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. The 33 Stradale was voted the winner in this category by the public at the traditional event on Lake Como. The vehicle is a tribute to the 1967 model of the same name. Only 33 of the two-seater coupé will be built by hand.
The Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este is considered the world's most important automotive beauty contest and has been held since 1929. Since 2002, in addition to the classes for historic vehicles, the "Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes" category has been held for current concept cars and one-offs. The Alfa Romeo Brera won in the inaugural year. It was followed by the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione (2004), Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Spider (2006), Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa (2010), Alfa Romeo 4C Concept (2012) and Alfa Romeo Disco Volante by Touring (2013).
