French electric Volkswagen

Rarely has so much been said and written about a new Citroën in advance as about the e-C3. Because while the entire European competition is still struggling to put a reasonably affordable electric car on its wheels, the French Stellantis subsidiary is delivering the "first affordable European electric car" to German customers in September at prices starting at 23,300 euros. Citroën already has an answer to VW Group CEO Oliver Blume's announcement that it intends to launch a battery-powered car "for around 20,000 euros" in three years (!).

But how does the low-cost electric car, which Citroën - deliberately ignoring the Dacia Spring - is celebrating as a "revolutionary" in the European electric car market, drive? Well, unspectacular in the best sense of the word. The car is based on the "smart car" platform and offers comfort and suitability for everyday use. The 113 hp electric motor accelerates to 100 km/h in 11 seconds and offers sufficient power for every conceivable maneuver in front of and behind the town sign. The chassis and ride comfort are also impressive, with the "Max" version having particularly comfortable seats. Despite its compact size, the e-C3 offers a spacious interior and practical storage space, which sets it apart from the well-known low-cost electric cars. (cen/fw)
