Dacia Sandrider completes first test phase

The Dacia Sandrider has completed its first test phase: After a system check at Millbrook Proving Ground in the UK, the Dakar had to prove itself for four days in Wales. Then it was off to Château de Lastours in France for four more days, where the three crews had the opportunity to test the Sandrider on a rocky and demanding terrain. Cristina Gutiérrez was at the wheel for two days in Wales before Sébastien Loeb, the nine-time world rally champion, took over the testing and development tasks.

Multiple Dakar winner Nasser Al-Attiyah had the opportunity to put the Sandrider through its paces for two days in Château de Lastours. Loeb returned to the cockpit for a day and a half, while Gutiérrez was deployed on the final afternoon.

Before the next comprehensive test in Morocco, where the Sandrider will be driven on similar terrain to the Dakar at the end of June, extensive work is now underway on the vehicle. Participation in the legendary desert rally in Saudi Arabia is then scheduled for the beginning of January. (aum)
