The "Green Campus" future project for the anniversary

The ground-breaking ceremony for the "grEEn-campus" in Rüsselsheim is set to take place this year. The project at Opel's headquarters is intended to help Stellantis achieve its goal of CO2 neutrality by 2038. Over the next few years, the Group will create a green company headquarters that is geared towards the changing demands of employees in the workplace and tests new, agile working models. The Green Campus is to become the centerpiece of the Stellantis Germany and global Opel headquarters.

"With this project, we are creating much more than just a place to work: We want to create the workplaces of tomorrow - environmentally sustainable and fully compatible with our new hybrid and flexible ways of working on site or remotely," says Xavier Chéreau, Stellanti's Chief Human Resources & Transformation Officer. It is an ambitious project for both the company and its employees, which also contributes to the goal of carbon neutrality.

The "EE" in "Green Campus" stands for Stellantis' commitment to the environment and its employees. The Green Campus locations are rooted in the historic core countries of Stellantis. The transformation in Rüsselsheim follows those in Poissy (France) and Mirafiori (Italy).

Stellantis is creating ultra-modern and efficient offices and workplaces for employees from administration, design, research & development and sales at the Opel headquarters in the immediate vicinity of the modern production plant. The electricity requirements of the office buildings, for example, will be covered by photovoltaic systems with around 7,000 panels installed across the entire roof. This means that the complex can be operated without fossil fuels. The buildings are air-conditioned using heat pumps and the green areas are irrigated using rainwater. The greening of building components contributes to greater biodiversity. Wallboxes for electric vehicles will also be installed.

A new model of office work reflects the hybrid, flexible working methods of home office and office days that now exist in many areas. The reduced space helps to maximize synergies, reach colleagues more quickly and thus make decision-making processes more efficient. Bright, daylight-flooded offices are designed to create a positive working environment, while high-quality materials improve air quality and contribute to the well-being of employees. A landscaped park in the middle of the Green Campus and other modern facilities offer opportunities for breaks and exchanges.

With the campus, Stellantis continues to see itself on track to achieve its net-zero CO2 emissions target by 2038, while offsetting the remaining emissions. The Group has reduced its absolute global CO2 footprint by 12.6 percent in 2023 compared to 2021. (aum)
