High-tech from Silicon Valley

Lucid, the self-proclaimed pioneer of luxury electric vehicles, is expanding its model range downwards with the new Air Pure with rear-wheel drive. The new RWD variant of the model series opens the door to the world of the company from California's Silicon Valley for €85,000. The person behind the wheel quickly realizes that this car has its roots in the region around San Francisco, where analog thinking is a thing of the past. Buttons and switches are a thing of the past, today almost everything is controlled via the screen, including the mirror settings, for example. In contrast to other models of the digital era, however, the desired functions are easy to find without having to stumble through numerous submenus.

The interior surprises with its fine materials and workmanship, which you would not expect in a model produced in the USA. The seats offer a high level of comfort and the lateral support is also good. However, the driver misses the head-up display in a sedan with high technical standards. At 4.98 meters, the Air Pure RWD is generously dimensioned, and the space for passengers in the rear is correspondingly inviting. Once on the move, the second surprise comes after the good workmanship. US sedans are not necessarily among the most dynamic representatives of their genre. The Air Pure, on the other hand, can be driven quite dynamically and remains pleasantly composed. (aum/ww)
