The junior takes on the big siblings

The new and smallest model series from Alfa Romeo, the Junior, will be electrically powered in the top version - and will deliver more power than previously announced. Following the completion of dynamic development tests, it is now clear that the Junior Veloce will produce 207 kW (280 hp). Previously, there had been talk of 177 kW (240 hp). The electric drive develops a torque of 345 Newton meters. This puts the new model on a par with the performance level of the Veloce versions of the Giulia, Stelvio and Tonale with a petrol engine or hybrid drive.

The Junior also made political waves at its premiere around two months ago. Alfa Romeo had initially christened the model series Milano. The right-wing Forza Italia government under Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni did not think this was right - after all, the car was being built in Poland and not in Italy, it was argued. Alfa Romeo avoided further discussions and renamed the model without further ado. (aum)
