Canadian Army orders over 1500 Mercedes-Benz Zetros

Mercedes-Benz has received a major order from the Canadian Ministry of Defense. The Special Trucks division will build over 1500 Zetros for the Canadian Armed Forces, which will use the vehicles to transport goods and troops off-road. In total, Canada will receive just over 1000 light Zetros 4x4s (two-axle vehicles with four-wheel drive) and around 500 heavy Zetros of the new 8x8 type (four-axle vehicles with four-wheel drive). They will be used to modernize the vehicle fleet.

Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks has recently started offering its off-road truck with an armored driver's cab ex works. The three-axle, all-wheel-drive Zetros 6x6 is initially available as a complete armored vehicle, with the 4x4 and 8x8 variants to follow next year. Rheinmetall is the development partner and supplier of the cab. Until now, the vehicles manufactured in Wörth have generally been fitted with a protected cab by partner companies before delivery to customers. (aum)
