Toyota GR Yaris: Extra power for the power dwarf
Toyota has revised the GR Yaris. Even at the time of its market launch, the turbo engine of the small powerhouse was considered the most powerful three-cylinder production engine in the world. Now Toyota's performance department Gazoo Racing has increased the power output by a further 19 hp (14 kW) to 280 hp (206 kW) and at the same time increased the torque by 30 Nm to a total of 390 Nm. Added to this is the new direct automatic transmission with eight gears, which is designed to enable extremely fast gear changes.
Inside, the cockpit layout and driving position have been redesigned to give a more authentic sports car feel on the road or track. The suspension has also been reinforced and adapted - with revised spring rates and reinforced front shock absorbers to ensure better control and more robustness under high loads. In addition, the GR Yaris is equipped with a cooling performance package that includes an additional radiator, an intercooler spray and a modified air intake.
Sales of the new GR Yaris will start in Germany in July 2024, with the manual version priced from 47,490 euros and the automatic version from 49,990 euros. But hurry is advised. The GR Yaris will only be available in limited numbers. Even more limited are two special models with exclusive technology and styling details, which were developed together with Gazoo Racing rally drivers Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä. (aum)
