Model changes depress sales a little

Porsche delivered 155,945 vehicles to customers in the first half of the year. This is seven percent fewer than in the same period of the previous year. Porsche cites the model changeover in five of its six model series as one of the reasons for this. In Europe, the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer increased its sales by six percent to 38,611 vehicles. In Germany, new registrations rose by 22 percent to 20,811 in the first half of the year.

In China, 29,551 vehicles were sold from January to June. This is a decline of one third in an economically tense market. In North America, Porsche delivered 39,558 vehicles, a drop of six percent. According to the company, customs-related delays in the delivery of some vehicle models in the first quarter had an impact here. Porsche was able to catch up noticeably in the second quarter. The region recorded the strongest quarterly result in its history to date. In the overseas and growth markets, 27,414 vehicles were handed over to customers. This puts the region at the same high level as the previous year.

The most successful model remains the Cayenne with 54,587 units (up 16 percent). It is followed by the Macan, which is about to undergo a model change, with 39,167 units (-18%) and the 911 with 28,212 vehicles (+8.0%). (aum)
