Porsche doubles the range of the Macan
Porsche is rounding off the lower end of its model range with the new Macan and closing a gap at the top. The entry-level model will be the Macan with rear-wheel drive and 250 kW (340 PS), which is particularly efficient with a WLTP range of up to 641 kilometers. The Macan 4S, on the other hand, is positioned in the upper performance range of the model series. A new off-road design package is also available for all Macan models.
In conjunction with Launch Control, the entry-level model delivers up to 253 kW (360 hp) in overboost mode and offers 563 Newton meters of torque. This allows the Macan to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 220 km/h. Dispensing with the all-wheel drive saves 110 kilograms. The weight reduction is reflected in a greater range.
The Macan 4S closes the gap between the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo. Its all-wheel drive also features electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (e-PTM). A new engine on the rear axle results in a total output of 330 kW (448 hp), which briefly increases to up to 380 kW (516 hp) in overboost mode. The maximum torque with Launch Control is 820 Nm. This enables the Macan 4S to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km/h. The standard range is up to 606 kilometers. The Macan 4S is equipped with electronic damper control as standard.
The off-road design package, which is available as an option for all models, includes a lower front section with modified geometry for a larger slope angle and, in combination with the adaptive air suspension, one centimeter more ground clearance. In addition, the side skirts, diffuser trim and roof rails are painted in either Vesuvius Grey or body color, as with the front lower section, and the roof rails are optionally available in other colors. For the Macan, Macan 4 and Macan 4S, the off-road bumper with Vesuvius gray insert is also available separately.
Porsche has once again revised the design of the Driver Experience display and operating system for all models. It now includes a welcome display, an even more modern look and feel and the new "Themes App", with which the background color of the displays and ambient lighting can be adapted to the car color in twelve colors.
The new entry-level model costs 80,700 euros, the Macan 4S 10,000 euros more. (aum)
