Porsche goes two better with the Panamera

With the Turbo S E-Hybrid and GTS, Porsche is launching the new top-of-the-range Panamera models on the market this fall. Both use the further developed 4.0-liter biturbo V8 that already powers the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid. In the S E-Hybrid, it delivers 599 hp (441 kW). This is complemented by a further 140 kW (190 hp) from the electric motor integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. This makes the S E-Hybrid the most powerful Panamera ever.

Compared to its predecessor, the system output increases by 102 hp (75 kW) to 782 hp (575 kW), while the maximum torque increases by 150 Newton meters to 1000 Nm. The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 325 km/h. This corresponds to an improvement of 25 km/h and 0.5 seconds. The standard electric range is up to 88 kilometers.

Porsche underlines the role of the Turbo models as the top of the range with an independent lower rear section and a specific front section in body color. Dark bronze chrome-plated tailpipes at the rear complete the picture. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) with yellow-painted brake callipers is also included as standard.

Exclusively reserved for the Turbo models is the elegant metallic gray shade Turbonit. The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid features this color on the airblades at the front of the vehicle, on a clasp in the rear lower section and on the forged 21-inch wheels with central locking. In the interior, for example, Porsche uses Turbonit accent strips, seat belts and controls in the center console and on the steering wheel. There is also Turbonit contrasting stitching on the seats, door panels, instrument panel and floor mats. The headlining is completely covered in Race-Tex, a material similar to suede.

Even before its market launch, the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid set a new record on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife. The 7:24.172 minutes set by Porsche test driver Lars Kern make the model the fastest luxury sedan with combustion engine and hybrid drive on the track,

The GTS is the top model in the non-electrified Panamera range. It delivers 500 hp (368 kW), 20 hp more than the previous generation, accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 302 km/h. The chassis has been lowered by one centimetre and has reinforced anti-roll bars. The electronically controlled PTV Plus differential lock distributes the torque optimally between the wheels at all times. Both the exterior and interior design of the GTS stand out from the other models in the series with sporty accents.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is available at prices starting at 229,400 euros, while the GTS is significantly cheaper at 165,300 euros. (aum)
