Mazda continues to go its own way

Mazda is replacing the two previous 2.0-liter G 122 and e-Skyactiv G 150 engines in the 3 Series and CX-30 with the new e-Skyactiv G 140. Once again, the company is demonstrating a somewhat independent approach to powertrains: The hybrid gets 140 hp (103 kW) from a displacement of 2.5 liters. This is an unusual ratio these days. Mazda promises significantly more torque in the lower and medium rev range. With 238 Newton meters, the drive exceeds the previous value by 25 Nm. In addition, the value is available at 3300 rpm instead of 4000 rpm.

Power is transmitted either via a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission. Standard fuel consumption is between 5.5 and 6.6 liters.

As part of the model revision, the Mazda 3 and the CX-30 are equipped with voice control via Amazon Alexa with corresponding access to further information and functions. Hybrid navigation is also new. The equipment range has also been expanded, with three regular variants and three special editions. The 186 hp (137 kW) e-Skyactiv X 186 remains in the range for both model series.

Prices for the Mazda 3 with the new e-Skyactiv G 140 start at 28,140 euros, while the CX-30 is 800 euros more expensive. (aum)
