Deutz engines for India and neighboring markets

Deutz has signed a cooperation agreement with the engine division of Tafe, the third largest tractor manufacturer in the world. The Indian company will initially build up to 30,000 2.2- and 2.9-liter engines with outputs between 50 hp and 100 hp (37 to 74 kW) under license. They are intended to supplement Tafe Motors' existing range of drive systems. Deutz, in turn, will use the Indian production site to market the engines in neighboring markets and benefit from the existing logistics.

The partners are also looking into the possibility of expanding the cooperation to include alternative drive systems. (aum)
