Toyota keeps the Olympics mobile in a variety of ways

As the global mobility partner of the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, Toyota will be present at all venues when the Olympic Games open on July 26, 2024. The company is committed to mobility as a means of improving the quality of life for all and has developed a holistic concept for the Olympics. It includes a shuttle fleet of more than 2,650 electrified vehicles and 700 electric mobility solutions for the last mile, including 250 Accessible People Movers (APM), which have been redesigned for Paris 2024 and manufactured in Europe. In addition, the company is demonstrating its commitment at several central contact points in the center of Paris.

Toyota's global multi-technology approach is reflected in the vehicle fleet for Paris, which is made up of battery-electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. In addition, there are a total of 700 electric mobility solutions for the so-called last mile. These include the Accessible People Mover (APM), which can transport several people with or without physical disabilities, the C-Walk S scooter, the C+Wald T, which can be used for seated travel, and the Wheelchair e-puller, which can be mounted in front of a wheelchair as a drive.

During the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, all Toyota vehicles, including the electrified fleet and electric mobility solutions, will carry a specially designed visual identity. It underlines Toyota's multi-route strategy, where each of the technologies used at the Games will be recognizable by specific colors. Blue as the color of water stands for the hydrogen drive, green as the color of nature for the battery-powered electric vehicles, while purple was chosen for the hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Toyota is convinced that hydrogen is an important pillar for creating a low-carbon and sustainable society. The company has therefore placed it at the center of its mobility concept for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. During the Games in Paris 2024, Toyota will present its vision of sustainable, hydrogen-powered mobility. In addition to the 500 fuel cell-powered Toyota Mirai in the shuttle fleet, Toyota will also showcase applications in buses and trucks through to boats and forklifts The buses have been specially converted for the occasion and designed with accessibility and team spirit in mind. They can transport an entire wheelchair team. In addition to trucks and forklift trucks, hydrogen-powered bicycles will also be used and hydrogen-powered boats will be on the Seine.

In a special, inclusive Mobility Park in the center of the French capital, Toyota is presenting its wide range of mobility solutions and those developed in cooperation with partners. They can be used there and tried out on test routes. The solutions cover very different areas, including a mobile toilet for people who are dependent on a wheelchair. The APM can also be seen there. In Paris, 250 Accessible People Movers will transport athletes, officials, volunteers and spectators with physical disabilities or walking difficulties, including wheelchair users, as well as smaller goods or serve as emergency assistance. The APM was developed in Belgium by Toyota Motor Europe (TME) and is manufactured in Portugal by bus manufacturer Toyota Caetano.

The Yosh-E, its so-called e-puller, transforms a classic wheelchair into a battery-electric mobility solution. 50 of them are available in the Paralympic Village and can be booked via the "Kinto Mobility" app and used within the village. At the Paralympic opening ceremony, 150 e-Pullers will be used by athletes and officials. Users only need a holder on their wheelchair.

In addition, 190 electrically powered C-Walk T scooters will be used by staff and volunteers at the various sports venues. The C-Walk S, on the other hand, is a type of electric tricycle for seated locomotion. 60 of them guarantee the individual mobility of Para athletes in the Paralympic Village and can also be booked via the Kinto app. They will also be used during the Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies.
